Because pets are family too…
Posted under: Our family consist of us and our three cats, or our three Stooges as we like to call them. We even brought two of the Stooges with us from Sweden because they mean so much to us. We found the third cat one cold winter day here in the US. Anyways, our cats have become really good hunters and love to go outside at night. One night, one of the cats brought home a mouse which our oldest cat, Bubba, decided to eat…we didn’t think much of it and the following night he brought home a dead bird and ate it too.
Not until later did we discover that he got tapeworm from eating something of that nature. We had to give him and the other two cats medication for it. Well, the following day, we noticed that Bubba didn’t eat as usual and were pretty much sleeping the entire day. After two more days like this with even more sleepiness and no food or water, we decided it was time to take him to the vet. We were later told that we were lucky to have brought him into the vet clinic when we did since he probably wouldnt have survived the weekend…
Bubba was fighting off a really bad infection of unknown cause (most likely from something he ate) and had a high fever and was severely de-hydrated. According to the vet, he was so de-hydrated that they couldn’t even draw blood from him since they couldn’t find any veins. They kept him overnight giving him fluids and watching his vitals. He finally came around 24 hours later and is still very weak, tired, and sick – but alive. Bubba is my first cat pet and means the world to me. He is so smart and loving and I can’t even imagine what it would be like to not have him around.
It is true what they say about pets – they are family too!
