There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man

One of the best things about living in the Midwest and in a far and distant state such as North Dakota, is the tremendously beautiful nature and wildlife on your front step.  It takes my breathe away to watch a harvested field in the sunset and see a horizon of hay bales, or to see the beautiful waving fields of blue flax and the yellow fields of sunflowers, or the wild horses and buffaloes roaming next to you in the park. It is definitely a different kind of life but it offers a sense of serenity. Our daughter is growing up to enjoy the wonderful nature, wildlife, and is not afraid to be curious and learn new things.  She is the first one to run up to a bug and play with it, or run after a wild buffalo, or go on walks in the fields to find something of interest.  She is most certainly an outdoor kind of girl already!

Her favorite animal of all times (so far I should say) is the horse. She must have about 10 plastic animal toy horses, one real sized mini toy pony, and has access to our friend Rich’s three real horses.  She is amazed by them and can’t wait to get big enough to ride them. She wears her pink cowboy hat and feels proud and happy.  As soon as her little feet can withstand walking in boots…those will be hers too =) Unfortunately, the downside of this life and enjoyment in the summer time in North Dakota is countered with the severely cold and freezing winters.  Those time you live off of these summer memories to make it through the long months of cold.
