The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies

Who would have thought that I would someday enjoy gardening? Me, who grew up in the city with pavement as far as your eyes could see, have trully started to love the art of gardening. It is still not very big or vast but a work in progress. It is very rewarding to see how things you care for, plan for, and spend time on grows and fruition. Not all is complete or even started to bloom but some of my flowers and veggies are getting bigger and more beautiful. I decided a few years ago when we moved here that I would only plant perennials and dividable plants…so far my flower beds are growing without having to spend a fortune on flowers, plants, and seeds. My first flowers that I planted was a handful of Canna Lilies that I got as a gift from my mother-in-law and they have now multiplied into about 30-40 bulbs. For the first time, I  hardly had enough space to plant them all! Last year, Brian decided to try to plant some pumpkins and gosh did we get lots of them. We even had to give some away to family and friends for Halloween. It was lots of fun to carve them with Linn. We only planted the mini pumpkins this year since they grew over half of our back yard last year.We planted potato plants, pea plants, radish plants, corn, and mini water melons this spring.  The potatoes are growing like weeds already! Hopefully we will get to enjoy our homemade garden this year. It sure will help out with some of those grocery bills. We all love corn, potatoes, peas, but the radishes I get to keep all to myself!
