Total Cervical Disc Arthroplasty Surgery

Aug 21, 2010 by     No Comments    Posted under: Featured, Headline, Pinpoints

I now am 3 days post-op of my total cervical disc arthroplasty surgery and doing fairly well. The surgery went well but it’s kind weird thinking that I have a metal disc in my neck and a big scar on my throat. It’s amazing what can be done to your body. All my neurological symptoms were gone as soon as I woke up from surgery (have a few tingling sensations but it’s due to the nerves still being swollen). My neck pain is excruciating but hope it’s mostly due to surgery and the neck manipulation to get my metal disc in place. According the to neurosurgeon, the disc was ruptured and oozing…it was 3mm by 5 mm and the nerve canal is only 3 mm wide itself so in essence, there was complete blockage of the nerve. That kind of explains the pain I was in prior to surgery. I’ll be on extended sick leave for a minimum of 4 weeks until I heal…after that, we’ll see how well I’ll heal. I’ll keep you posted.
